  • Summer Orgo Prep Resource + Coupon Code

Many Organic Chemistry professors, myself included, agree that the biggest reason that a student will struggle in Organic Chemistry stems from being underprepared, despite having completed their General Chemistry course successfully. And being underprepared for Organic Chemistry comes in a variety of forms:

  • Not retaining key content from General Chemistry.
  • Approaching the course with the expectation of memorizing everything.
  • Assuming that the content of the course comes in discrete units, separated in time.
  • Having a fixed mindset, rather than a growth mindset.

Any one of these things can be disastrous for a student, and many of us Organic Chemistry professors try to “fix” those things at the beginning of the course. But the truth is, it’s incredibly challenging for a student to change their ways once classes begin for the term. After classes begin, students simply don’t have the time, and they often feel that the stakes are too high to try something different. That’s where Summer Orgo Prep comes in. Summer Orgo Prep is designed to get students ready for their Organic Chemistry course, in the weeks before classes begin. That’s when students have time, and that’s when the stakes are low for students. And to do so, Summer Orgo Prep helps fix the above issues:

  • Summer Orgo Prep fills in gaps in key content from General Chemistry
  • Summer Orgo Prep shows students how their success in Organic Chemistry is all about learning/understanding concepts, rather than rote memorization
  • Summer Orgo Prep shows students how the content throughout the course is cumulative, rather than coming in discrete units.
  • Summer Orgo Prep helps students develop a growth mindset for the course.

Furthermore, Summer Orgo Prep goes on to give students a leg up when it comes to some of the most important new concepts and problem-solving skills they’ll learn in their actual Organic Chemistry course. And it does all of this at a level that’s very accessible to students. That’s where my 23 years of experience as an Organic Chemistry professor at Elon University becomes so valuable, along with my 10 years of experience as a published textbook author.

The regular price for Summer Orgo Prep is $34.99 for 1-year access, but with this coupon code (GMU-student-2024), it would bring the price down to just $24.99 for 1-year access.

To learn more, please see Flyer George Mason 2024 or visit our website: https://summerorgoprep.com/

More to come in the fall!

  • Changes to ADA DAT Scoring and Reporting Coming Spring 2025

Starting March 1, 2025, the American Dental Association (ADA) will implement a new scoring model for the Dental Admission Test (DAT). Thus, the current 2-digit score reporting scale (1 to 30) will change to a 3-digit scale (200 to 600).

Here’s what it means for you:

  1. No Content Changes: The good news is, there are no changes to the exam content!
  2. More Accurate Scores: The new scoring model will provide a more accurate estimate of your skills, giving you and prospective dental schools more insight into your level of readiness for the rigors of dental school.
  3. Unofficial Scores: The new scoring model requires additional analyses to provide a more precise score, so beginning March 1, 2025, unofficial score reports will not be available at the testing site.
  4. Official Scores: The ADA will begin reporting the new scoring scale to ADEA AADSAS© (ADEA Associated American Dental School Application Service) beginning March 1, 2025 but will also continue to report historical 2-digit scores. Scores under both scoring models are considered valid.

See the DAT_Scoring_Change_Applicant_FAQ_June_2024 for detailed information about the change. To receive additional updates as they are available, be sure you are an ADEA GoDental newsletter subscriber.

ADEA will update the FAQs as more information is available. Want to see an answer to your question? Submit a question on this form.

Sincerely,

The American Dental Education Association

  • Erudition’s PAT (Perceptual Ability Test) Prep for the DAT:

I wanted to reach out and share some super helpful free PAT resources with pre-dental students in Pre-Health Advising. We’d love for students at George Mason University to be aware of these amazing study materials when preparing for their DAT, as we’re sure they will make learning the perceptual ability problems a lot easier! These free materials, like all of Erudition’s materials, provide lots of clear graphics and visual aids, which have helped our students get the hang of PAT problems more quickly and effectively.
