Tuesday, February 13

Wednesday, February 21

The Honors College challenges and stretches students’ abilities whilst providing support and community. We do this through our curriculum, advising and academic support, and our thriving community. Our curriculum is an alternative to the Mason Core, and we can substitute up to 4 of the 7 required Honors requirements to ensure students can complete the HC curriculum without impacting their graduation timeline. The attached infographic provides more information about joining the Honors College and what it means regarding credits. Specific questions can be emailed to me at trahman5@gmu.edu.

Minimum eligibility criteria to apply to join the Honors College:

  • Minimum of 24 credit hours completed at Mason (by the end of the semester they are applying)
  • Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA

For more information about course substitutions, please view: Honors Curriculum Subs Sheet

  • GeorgeSquared Information Session & Open House (2/12 & 2/23)

The Advanced Biomedical Sciences (ABS) graduate certificate is a program offered jointly by George Mason University and Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC).

This program is designed for students who have all of their core coursework and extracurricular prerequisites for medical, dental or other health-related fields, but otherwise have a comparatively limited science background (non-science majors with only the pre-health curricular core, for example), modest grades in the sciences as undergraduates, and/or also need to improve their Medical College Admission Test, Dental Admission Test, or other pre-professional scores. This is a 9-month, 20-credit, full-time program that begins each fall semester. Most classes are held at George Mason University’s Science and Technology Campus in Manassas, Virginia with cadaveric anatomy labs held at GUMC.

Online Information Session:

  • Monday, February 12th at 5:00 PM EST

  • Tulane University Masters in Medical Genetics & Genomics Information

We would like to take this opportunity to tell you about our 1-year Master’s Degree program in Medical Genetics and Genomics at Tulane University School of Medicine.

The Hayward Genetics Center offers a 1-year, post-baccalaureate Master’s in Medical Genetics and Genomics. This multidisciplinary program gives graduates an in-depth understanding of the rapidly advancing field of clinical human genetics. It is designed to prepare qualified individuals for careers in the health sciences, and to provide an educational experience that will enhance the opportunity of being admitted into a postgraduate professional school such as medical school or PhD programs.

  • Most of our students are pre-med, and while it varies from year to year, we estimate that close to 90% of our graduates who apply to medical school or osteopathy school have been accepted in subsequent years.
  • In addition to medical school, graduates from our program have also gone on to other careers including dental school, PhD programs, genetic counseling masters’ programs, and working with biomedical technology companies.
  • The curriculum includes courses that cover the same material as medical schools’ Genetics courses and first year Medical Biochemistry courses.
  • We offer clinical shadowing opportunities in the Tulane Genetics clinics

Below is our informational flyer for you to make available to your students and a  FAQ sheet for you to learn more about our program.

These free materials, like all of Erudition’s materials, provide lots of clear graphics and visual aids, which have helped our students get the hang of PAT problems more quickly and effectively.

YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@eruditionpat

Our information pages go over the rules of PAT problems, example problems, and tips and strategies for each type of PAT problem:

Intro to Pattern folding problems

Students can sign up for a free account at eruditionprep.com/pat and start studying using our free access question banks (select question banks from our course) and free ADA explanations (detailed explanations for ADA sample items).

Helpful information about MCAT Registration on Feb. 27

Fill out the First Five Tabs of Information in the MCAT Registration System Before Feb. 27
This will save you about 5-10 minutes on opening day and you can go straight to scheduling when you log in. If you use autofill on your computer or mobile device, please be sure to confirm that your name matches the first and last names on your MCAT accepted ID. Keep in mind the system will be offline starting at 8 a.m. ET on Feb. 27 to prepare for the opening, and will re-open at noon that day.

Understand How the Waiting Room Works
When the MCAT Registration System opens, we have a virtual waiting room activated that will show your place in line and include an estimated wait time for when it’s your turn to register. It will hold your place in line, so you don’t need to wait by your computer or mobile device. Learn more about the waiting room and how it works.

Two helpful hints:

    1. You don’t need to log in before the system officially opens. It will randomly assign a place in line to anyone who has logged in by 11:50 a.m. ET.
  1. Please don’t open multiple browsers, refresh your page, or share your Queue-it ID. This could result in a longer wait time or move your placement to the back of the line.

Learn About Scheduling your MCAT Exam with Accommodations
Advance scheduling for July through September exam dates will be available for examinees with approved accommodations, and information regarding this process was recently sent to eligible examinees via email. You can reach out to Pearson VUE with questions regarding scheduling at 1-800-466-0450 (select option 3). In the meantime, we encourage you to learn more about registration and scheduling in 2024.

If you have approved accommodations and are interested in testing between now and June, you may also contact Pearson VUE now at 1-800-466-0450 (select option 3) to schedule your exam with accommodations.

Apply for Fee Assistance
The 2024 AAMC Fee Assistance Program application is now open. If you are interested in using the AAMC Fee Assistance Program MCAT exam benefit, you must be approved before you register for your exam as these benefits are not retroactive.
