Information for ApplicantsCentral Application ServicesAfter you have made a decision on the health professions career that fits your personal expectations and goals and completed your required coursework, you will need to prepare your application for entry to a graduate program. On the lower right sidebar are all the links to the centralized application services. These sites will provide you more information on how to complete and submit their applications. You must pay attention to their posted deadlines and plan appropriately. Meet the AdministratorsIt is essential to know the process, and the unique opportunity to meet the administrators of the centralized application service is one that GMU students benefit from directly. One-hour sessions with each of the administrators are scheduled early in the spring semester, and anyone who misses these sessions will gain access to audio files or PDF slides. You will also receive updates near the end of April prior to the opening of the services. This section consists of slides and/or audio files related to applications for 2008 entry. Updated slides for 2009 entry will be posted here.
After your initial application, many schools will also send you a school-specific secondary application in mid-to-late summer where you will fill out more information and write more essays. Upon completion of the secondary application and receipt of your recommendations will you be considered for a final interview. As most admissions committee offer slots on a rolling admissions basis, an early interview in the fall tends to be more advantageous than an interview later in the season or in the spring semester. To make the point, you need to be sure you pay attention to deadlines and get a completed, well-prepared application sent as soon as you can. ArchiveFor applicants, here are the PDF slides from the February 1, 2007, "Meet the Administrators" session. Audio file is available here. An additional presentation was made on February 28, 2007, with administrators from AACPMAS and SOPHAS. Access the audio file here. |
