Medical Sciences Advisory Committee

Because the MSAC processes over 100 declared prehealth applicants, the MSAC is always welcoming volunteers who on their own time can conduct mock 30-minute-long interviews with our student applicants. All interviews take place during the spring semester and are mutually scheduled with the intended applicant.

The MSAC is composed of representatives from academic services, University Life, and research-oriented units. All individuals receive a brief one-hour training session with Dr. Chuck that is scheduled at your convenience. The committee meets virtually but is welcome to all major functions organized by Dr. Chuck and the student clubs. All committee members submit an online interview feedback form to assist Dr. Chuck in his final evaluation letter.

The MSAC desires representation among its committee members that represents the diverse Mason student population and the patient population that these applicants will likely encounter in their future professional training. A science or health professional background is not necessary to participate, but an awareness of health issues, prior knowledge and training of evaluating interviewees, or an interest in social equity issues is preferred. Graduate students in the thesis stages of their master's or doctoral degrees are also welcome.

If you are interested, please contact Dr. Chuck by the end of fall semester.
